[DESIGN 10] 아이폰 다이어리 케이스 디자인 (Design of iPhone Diary's cases)

오랜만에 폰도 바꿨겠다, 새로운 마음으로 나의 소중한 iPhone 6s를 보호해 줄 케이스를 만들기로 결정했다. 

원래는 구입 전까지 폰케이스 제작도 모두 마치려고 했지만 역시 창작의 고통은 이루말할 수 없었고, 나름 하루하루의 일상마저도 바빴기 때문에 구입한지 2주일이 지나서야 완성할 수 있었다. 

이전까지는 시중에서 저렴한 폰케이스를 구입했으나, 언젠가부터 폰케이스 디자인을 직접 하고 싶었고, 아마 그게 작년부터였던 것 같다. 맥프레를 구입한 이후 여러가지 다양한 디자인 작업에 도전해보고 싶었지만 생각보다 포토샵이나 일러스트 공부할 짬이 없었어서 더 다양한 작업을 하지는 못한 듯 싶다. 그래도 하다보면 계속 좋아지겠지......

(I changed phone after a long time, in new mind, I decided to make a case of protecting my important iPhone 6s. 

Naturally I tried to finish all phone case's manufacture before purchase, but I can't also explain pain of creation and I could finish past 2 weeks after purchase this one because I was so busy lifetime day by day.

I bought cheap phone case in the market before, but I'd directly like to do phone case's design from someday and maybe that was since last year. After I bought Mac Book Pro, I'd like to challenge some various design works, however I think I don't various works so it didn't have time to study photoshop and illustrator program than I expected. Anyway I do like this, continuously getting better......) 

1) iPhone 5 다이어리 케이스 디자인 (A design of iPhone 5 Diary's case)

 

이건 작년 여름쯤 만들었던 iPhone 5 케이스 디자인 시안이다. 

당시 내가 좋아하는 선수들의 이미지로 만들었는데 우측이 케이스 앞면이고, 좌측이 케이스 뒷면이다. 인쇄되는 면적때문에 왼쪽 디자인을 옆으로 많이 연장해야 했다. 오른쪽 상단 사진은 다르빗슈의 퍼펙트 달성이 아깝게 무산된 후 팬들에게 모자를 벗어 인사하는 모습이고, 그 아래는 대전에서 경기 전에 찍은 정호 사진으로 만들었으며 좌측의 두 이미지는 평소 경기 때의 모습을 담았다.

모두 카툰 리터칭 방식으로 디자인했고, 당시 각 소속팀 로고에 영어 이름까지 추가했다. 뭐 사실 뭔가 화려해보이는 색채이긴 하지만 할 작업이 많았을 뿐, 어려운 작업은 없었어서 굉장히 빨리 끝낼 수 있었다.

The time, I made by my favorite players' images, the right image is in front of case and the left image is in the back of case. I had to extend the left design to the side a lot. The top image of the right is Darvish's figure who greets taking off cap to fans after failure perfect game and the bottom made by Jung Ho's image which I took a picture before game, both images of the left put in game action's figure usual.

I designed by cartoon retouching ways and I added English names with belonging team's emblem at each other. In fact, it sees splendid color, but I could finish very quickly so it wasn't difficult works only doing works.)  

이것이 결과물이고 생각 외로 괜찮게 나왔다는 생각이 들었지만 케이스 덮개 부분까지 이미지가 인쇄되는 건 예상하지 못했었다. 이걸 알았다면 상하로 위치를 바꿨을텐데 이 점이 약간 아쉬웠다.

그래도 밝은색이라 그런지 색상은 나름 괜찮게 빠진 것 같았다. 작년에 제작하고 나서 정호에게 직접 사인을 받으려고 가지고 갔었는데 내가 펜을 잘못 선택해서 금방 지워졌다. 그 펜 때문에 정호한테 혼나기도 했는데 역시 사인 전문가라 다르긴 다른 듯;;; ㅋㅋㅋ

{This is the final real thing and I thought this is ok than I expected, but I didn't expect printing image until case's cover. If I know beforehand, I will change location of up and down, so I wanted for this thing. 

Anyway color printed competently due to light color. I tried directly to get a autograph to Jung Ho after menufacture last year, but the autograph was erased in a moment so I chose wrong pen. I listened a scolding to him cause of the pen, it looks like different so he is autograph expert... :) }

2) iPhone 6s 다이어리 케이스 디자인 (A design of iPhone 6s Diary's case)

이번에 제작한 iPhone 6s 케이스 디자인 시안이다. 

정말 이 디자인 결과물이 나오기까지 얼마나 많은 고민을 했는지 모르겠다. 아이디어가 떠오르지 않아서 맥북 모니터만 바라보기도 하기도 하고, 이런저런 작업을 해보다가도 그냥 파일을 삭제하는 등의 과정이 반복되었으며 나중엔 지쳐서 아예 다 놔버리기도 했다. 그래서 생각보다 오랜 시간이 걸렸고, 창작의 고통을 뼈속깊이 느낄 수 있었다.

사실 올해 들어서 좋아하는 선수들이 더욱 늘었고, 그 선수들을 모두 다 넣고 싶은 욕심 때문에 더 고민이 깊었을 수도 있다.

이번에 미국을 다녀오면서 내가 직접 찍은 사진으로 디자인하고 싶었지만 MLB 야구장 투어를 시작한 2번째 날에 조디 머서가 상대방 슬라이딩으로 인한 부상을 당하면서 좋은 사진을 찾을 수가 없었다. 그래서 조디 머서도 어쩔 수 없이 버스터 포지나 다르빗슈처럼 구글에서 검색한 이미지를 이용했다. 그나마 폰케이스가 작아서 해상도가 큰 사진까지는 필요가 없었고, 정호만 내가 직접 찍은 사진으로 작업했다. 우측 상단부터 텍사스 레인저스의 다르빗슈, 그 아래는 정호를 넣었고, 좌측 상단은 샌프란시스코 자이언츠의 버스터 포지, 그 아래는 피츠버그 파이럿츠의 조디 머서를 넣었다.

사진을 찾다보니 워낙 인기많은 전국구 스타인 버스터 포지는 정말 멋진 사진이 많았다. 오히려 한 장만 골라내는 게 더 어려운 작업이었다고나 할까......

배경 부분에서 고민한 시간이 엄청나게 길었던 것이 살짝 로즈골드 색상의 테두리가 보이는 폰의 정면과 잘 어울리는 색상을 선택하는 게 나아보였기 때문이다. 그래서 밤색 다이어리 느낌으로 컨셉을 잡았고, 맥북으로 봤을 때도 배경 색상 자체가 딱 좋아보였다. 

역시 이것도 마찬가지로 카툰 리터칭 방식으로 디자인했고, 네 사람 이미지가 들어가는만큼 지저분해 보일 여지가 더 커보였기에 각각의 사진 배경을 모두 잘라내 최대한 깔끔하게 연출했다. 대신 뭔가 포인트를 주고 싶어서 지난번 손목 쿠션 만들때처럼 약간의 간격을 두고 모양대로 점선 테두리를 넣었으며, 테두리 색도 배치되는 면의 색으로 정했다. 또한 글씨가 쓰여져있는 하트 안의 색도 마찬가지로 배치되는 면의 색상을 넣었고, 글씨 색상도 최대한 단순하게 가져가려고 노력했다.

달력 만들 때도 그랬지만 너무 이쁜 우리 미르를 넣고 싶은 욕심이 계속 생겨서 어떻게 하면 지저분하지 않게 넣을 수 있을까 고민하였고, 또 해당 선수들이 소속되어 있는 팀의 로고도 넣어주고 싶어서 고민하다가 하트 상단을 이용하기로 했다. 또한 케이스 하단이 허전해서 내 서명과 블로그 주소를 쓰는 것으로 결정했고......

I didn't know how much I was in agony until really finishing this design. I didn't have good idea, so I've seen only Mac Book's monitor, did some works and I 've just deleted and etc, this process was repeated, I've relinquished all so tired later. So it spent a long time than I expected, I could feel pain of creation depth inside bone. 

I honestly increased more favorite players this year, it's possible agony was much cause of greed about putting all players.

I went to America and I wanted to do design my photos directly taking, however Jordy Mercer was injured by sliding the opposite runner in the second day starting MLB tour, so I couldn't find out good photo. Therefore I used image searching for Google like Buster Posey and Darvish in case of Jordy Mercer. Fortunately phone case's is small, so I didn't need high resolution image and I worked image taking directly me only Jung Ho. From the top of the right, it's Darvish Yu of Texas Rangers and the bottom put in Jung Ho and the top of the left is Buster Posey of San Francisco Giants and the bottom put in Jordy Mercer.

I search for images, there are a lot of photos about Buster posey who is star player nationwide. What is it harder work to select only one at the more....

The reason agonizing for a long time in background was seeing to select suitable color with phone's frontage seen rose gold color's outline lightly. So I caught concept feeling diary of chestnut color and I felt good as background color itself when I saw by Mac Book.

Also I designed by cartoon retouching ways, I thought it was possible to see untidy as coming four players' image, so I all cut image's background and tried to show neatly the maximum. Instead of, I want to take a some point, it's at regular intervals like making a small cushion last time and put outline of dotted line put as shape, outline color selected color of the opposite side. Also inside color of heart shape writing character put color of the opposite side in the same, I try to make character's color simply the maximum.

I did so when I designed a calendar, I really wanted to put Mir who is so cute, so I considered how could I neatly put Mir and I also wanted to put team's emblems belonging the players, I decided the top of heart shape. And I decided to write my signature and blog's website address as the bottom of the case feels empty......)    

이것이 바로 결과물이다. 조명때문에 색이 제대로 표현되지는 않았지만 솔직히 이번 케이스 인쇄 색상이 그닥 마음에 들지 않는다. 저 위의 시안 색상과는 너무나 다른 배경 색상때문에 실망감이 들었다고나 할까......

(This is just the final real thing. It properly wasn't expressed color, but I don't honestly like this case's color to print. I disappointed because background color is so different with design's color of that top.......)

아마 이게 RGB color와 CMYK color의 차이가 아닐까 싶은데 컴퓨터 모니터는 256가지 RGB color를 보여주고 있고, 거의 모든 인쇄물은 CMYK color를 사용한다. CMYK color로 표현할 수 있는 색상이 RGB color보다 적기 때문에 이런 차이가 난 것 같고, 이 부분을 캐치하지 못한 내 잘 못도 있지만 앞으로 RGB color로 인쇄하는 곳을 다시 한번 찾아봐야겠단 생각이 들었다.

내가 달력 인쇄를 맡기는 곳도 RGB color로 인쇄하는 곳이라서 폰 케이스 제작업체도 조금 더 알아봐야겠다.

그리고 맥프레 해상도나 색 표현력이 너무 좋아서 그런지 실제 결과물은 모니터로 보는 것만 못한 경우가 더 많았던 것 같다. 이거 참  컴퓨터가 너무 좋아도 탈인 듯...... ^^;;;

(Perhaps this seems to be a difference of RGB and CMYK color, computer's monitor had RGB color of 256, almost printing uses CMYK color. I think it's showing like this difference cause color expressing to CMYK is little less than RGB color, it's my fault that I didn't catch like this thing, but I think I find to place where is printed by RGB color over again in the future.

The place that makes to print for my calendar is also place where is printed to RGB color, so I'll find some place where makes phone case a little bit. 

And Mac Book Pro's resolution and ability to express of color is great, so seeing by monitor is better than real thing. It becomes a problem that computer is very good...... ^^;;;)

 

배경 외에 카툰 이미지 부분과 하트 부분의 이미지와 글씨 등 나머지 부분은 그래도 괜찮아 보이지만 상단 이미지들의 테두리가 잘 보이지 않는 것도 약간은 신경쓰인다.  그래도 어쨌든 내가 의도했던 대로 안 나와서 그렇지 디자인 시안 자체는 괜찮았다는 것을 위안으로 삼고 돈을 들인만큼 1년 정도는 사용하기로 했다. 인쇄 부분 자체가 약 1년 정도의 수명을 가진 것 같아서......

(By the way, cartoon image and heart's image and letter and etc except background seem good, but I'm cared about not looking outline of the top images a little bit. Anyway I was unsatisfied this didn't print in my intention, but I get comfort design is good itself and decided to use for one year as spending money. It looks like a part of printing has durability of about one year......) 

# 에필로그 (A Epilogue)

그래도 폰 케이스 디자인까지 하다보니 내 의도대로 표현하는 능력은 점점 좋아지고 있는 것 같다. 이제 스킬만 더 좋아지면 보다 많은 것을 표현할 수 있게 될 것 같은데 따로 공부할 시간이 충분치 않다고 보면 그냥 이것저것 만들면서 여러가지 시행착오를 겪는 과정을 소화해내야 할 것 같다.

어차피 이제 곧 달력 디자인 작업도 시작하게 될 것이니 계속 이런 식으로 작업하다보면 나중엔 뭔가 투잡을 뛸 수 있을 정도로 많은 발전이 있겠지......!!!

(Anyhow I think getting better ability of expressing by my intention so I make phone case's design. If my skill is getting better, I think I can express much more things, but if it isn't enough time to study myself, I think I make something and digest process of some trial and error.

After all, I'll start work of calendar design soon, so I continuously work like this way, it will be more progressive as doing the second job later......!!)
