『한 여자가 에메랄드 빛의 해안을 보며 끝도 없이 펼쳐진 백사장을 조용히 걷고 있었다. 한 손에는 카메라를 들고, 다른 한 손으로 새하얀 솜뭉치처럼 보이는 몰티즈의 어깨끈을 쥐며 느릿느릿 그 사이를 가로지르고 있다. 때마침 붉은 석양이 드리우며 그녀의 발걸음을 멈추게 만들었고, 몰티즈와 함께 잠시 백사장에 주저앉아 수평선을 지그시 바라보며 카메라 셔터를 누르기 시작한다. 그 순간, 누군가가 다가와 그 둘을 넓고 든든한 어깨로 감싸주었고, 그렇게 그들은 따스한 속삭임을 주고 받으며 다시 백사장 한쪽 끝을 향해 걸어가기 시작했다.』
삶의 여유 그리고 자유를 꿈꾸다보면 항상 이런 모습들을 그리곤 한다. 바다, 해변, 강아지, 로맨틱한 풍경, 카메라 등등...... 아마도 인생의 축소판이라고 볼 수 있는 여행이란 단어가 나에게 그러한 여유로움과 자유를 안겨주는 주된 요소이지 않을까하는 생각이 든다. 지금으로선 미르를 다시 만날 수 없는 상황이지만 천국에서 나중에 미르와 재회하고, 사랑하는 사람과도 합류하게 되면 저런 따스한 풍경이 펼쳐질 것이라 믿어보며 이 글을 시작해본다.

Dreaming composure of life and liberty, I've always used to draw like this. Ocean, beach, dog, romantic view, camera, etc...... Maybe It seems a word 'travel' can speak microcosm of life is an element that gives composure and liberty like that to me. It's a situation can't meet Mir again for now, but if I meet with Mir later and also join with loved one in heaven, I believe I can see wonderful view like that and start to post this writing.)

상황이 상황인지라 가성비 좋은 여행을 계획하여 이번에도 가보지 못한 4군데의 야구장을 돌아보며 나름 관광지도 알차게 찾아다닐 수 있었다. 여행을 다녀온 이후 미국 동부와 중부, 서부 그리고 한국까지 짧은 기간 안에 넘나드느라 가뜩이나 약해진 체력이 더 떨어지면서 시차 적응에 애를 먹은 건지 아니면 건강이 많이 안 좋아진 것인지 확실한 이유는 알 수 없지만 병원을 수시로 들락날락할 정도로 아프기도 했다. 그래도 이 여행에 대해서 후회는 없는 것이 여행 중에는 아픈 적이 전혀 없었기 때문에 돌아오는 것 자체가 나에게 더 스트레스로 다가오지 않았을까 싶고, 이게 더 설득력 있는 요인으로 느껴진다.
항상 그래왔듯이 관광, MLB 볼파크, 야구, 정리글까지 이렇게 나눠서 기록해볼 예정이고, 30개 구장(도시까지)을 모두 돌아보고 참고 자료를 조금 더 축적한 이후 이 자료들을 가지고 나만의 책을 한번 만들어보고 싶다는 생각이 든다. 판매 목적이 아닌 내 스스로 만들어나간 역사 그 흔적을 남기기 위해서......
(I planned cost-effective travel so my situation isn't good, had looked around 4 ball parks where I have never gone this time and could worthily look tourist attractions as my idea. After going back from travel, I can't know sure cause whether weak strength gets lower and I couldn't adjust jet leg so I had gone all the eastern and central and western area of US within short time or my health got worse pretty much, I've been sick as frequently going in and out of hospital. But the reason that has no regret about this travel is what had never been sick in middle that time at all, I thought coming back here by itself gave any more stresses to me, I feel this is more reasonable cause.
As I did so, I'm going to write dividing to the part of sightseeing and MLB ball parks and baseball and ending story, I've thought I would like to make only my book for using these materials after I all go to 30 ball parks(including cities) and accumulate more reference materials. For leaving trace of the history that I have been creating by myself not purpose of sale......)
2. [2018 MLB TOUR(2)] 캐나다 최대 도시, 토론토 여행 - 토론토 올드 타운 (Toronto, The biggest city of Canada - Toronto Old Town)
[디스틸러리 역사 지구 (The Distillery Historic District)]
토론토에서의 두번째 날 일정은 역시나 야구 게임 관람과 함께 숙소 근처에 위치한 토론토 올드 타운을 돌아보는 것이었다. 다운타운에 위치해있고, 여전히 개발 중인 이 곳의 가장 대표적인 장소는 디스틸러리 역사 지구와 세인트 로렌스 마켓으로 숙소로부터 도보로 약 10분 거리에 위치한 세인트 로렌스 마켓부터 들르기로 했다. 더 빨리 방문해서 이런저런 요기꺼리를 사면 좋았을텐데 피로가 계속 가시질 않았기에 한정된 장소만 갔었던 것 같다. 😞😢😔
(The second day's schedule in Toronto was looking around Toronto Old Town where locates near my hostel with also watching baseball game. As the classic place of this one where locates close downtown and is still developing is The Distillery Historic District and St. Lawrence Market, I had decided to stop by St. Lawrence Market could reach for about 10 minutes by walk from my dodge. I would be good if I visited it quicker and bought some foods, but I went to only limited places cause my tiredness continually remained. 😞😢😔)
[세인트 로렌스 마켓 1층 (The 1st floor of St. Lawrence Market)]
전형적인 시장의 모습이지만 여행의 또 하나의 묘미는 실제 이 곳에 거주하는 사람들이 사는 모습을 보는 것이다. 호스텔 체크 아웃을 하고, 바로 공항 근처의 호텔로 옮기는 날이었기 때문에(클리블랜드행 비행 시간이 이 날로부터 이틀 후 이른 오전이었다.) 뭔가 요기꺼리를 사고 싶어도 살 수 없었다. 아침도 호스텔에서 먹고 나왔고, 점심은 야구장에서 먹을 예정이었으니......
그래도 현지의 먹음직스러운 음식과 그 재료들을 보는 건 정말 크나큰 즐거움이다. 가뜩이나 생선회와 해산물을 사랑하는 나에게 저 곳을 지나치는 건 크나큰 고역이었고, 저 소시지마저 나를 부르는 것 같았다!

I couldn't buy something foods even if it wants to buy because it was the day that I check out at hostel and move to hotel near airport(the flight time to Cleveland was the early morning after 2 days from this day). I ate breakfast in my hostel, had been planned eating lunch at the ball park......
Anyway looking mouth-watering foods and the ingredients in the field is really big pleasure. The thing that I who love raw fish and seafood pass that place was a big travail, it looked like even the sausage calls for me!)

해산물 못지 않게 사랑하는 케이크, 파이, 타르트, 빵 등 베이커리를 지나치는 것도 나에게는 고문이었다. 만성위염으로 인해 많이 먹을 수 없었던 상황이었기 때문에 한 두 가지 종류만을 고르는 것 조차도 나에게 매우 어려운 일이었다. 정선 언니가 이 날부터 함께 있었다면 샀었을텐데......
(Passing by the bakery of cake and pie and tarte and bread and etc which I love similarly to seafood was torture to me. Because I couldn't eat lots of due to a chronic gastritis, even selecting only one or two sorts of bakery was so difficult to me. If my friend was with me from this day, I would buy some sorts of bakery......)

[디스틸러리 역사 지구 (The Distillery Historic District)]
디스틸러리 역사 지구는 다운타운에 위치한 전통적이면서 현대적인 디자인과 예술성이 결합된 상업 지구로 양조장으로 사용되었던 'Gooderham and Worts Distillery' 건물 내에 수 많은 카페와 레스토랑, 각종 상점들이 위치해있고, 이는 북아메리카 내의 빅토리아 시대 산업 건축 양식의 가장 큰 콜렉션이기도 하다. 또한 1988년에 캐나다 국립 유적지로 선정되었다.
여기서 Gooderham and Worts Distillery는 1832년에 지어져 1860년대 말에 이르러 세계에서 가장 큰 양조장으로 유명해졌고, 캐나다 국철 메인으로써 대중교통 환승지의 중심지이기도 했으나, 20세기말 인근 지역 제조업의 쇠퇴로 양조 공장 가동이 서서히 멈추기 시작하면서 이 구역 자체가 버려지기 시작했다. 하지만 1990년부터 문을 닫은 양조장들이 재개발되기 시작하여 이 모습을 그대로 보존, 그렇게 투자의 기회를 만들었고, 분위기 자체가 800개의 극장과 텔레비전에서 방영한 수 많은 영화와 드라마의 촬영지로 사용될만큼 매력적인 장소로 꼽혔다.
재개발이 거의 완료되어 2003년에 다시 개장했고, 이 곳의 새 주인은 대형 소매점, 프랜차이즈 레스토랑 같은 곳이 입점하길 원하지 않아서 부티크, 아트 갤러리, 소형 레스토랑, 귀금속 상점, 카페, 소형 양조장 Mill Street Brewery 같은 미술관이나 소호 상점들이 주로 들어설 수 있게 되었다. 꼭대기 공간은 스튜디오로써 예술가들이 임차했고, 극장과 드라마 제작 세트 또한 들어서있다.
이 구역은 전통적인 벽돌 포장 거리로 늘어서있는데 보행자와 자전거 이용자들만 사용할 수 있는 한정된 도로가 있고, 생동감있는 풍경을 만끽할 수 있는 거리를 따라 조각상들이 늘어서 있으며 Trinity 거리 끝의 주차 구역에 디스틸러리 도로가 설치되어 있다.
또 다른 주요 랜드 마크로는 Boiler House Complex 꼭대기에 위치한 굴뚝이 있고, 일반인들을 위한 테이블, 의자와 함께 보행자 전용 거리의 편안한 공간과 이에 더하여 카페와 레스토랑 테라스(파티오)도 있으며, Trinity 거리는 이 구역에서 가장 넓은 거리로 마켓 데이 행사를 위해 공공 광장의 기능을 하고 있기도 하다.
(The Distillery Historic District is commercial zone where locates in downtown combined with traditional and modern design and artistry, there are many cafes and restaurants and some shops within Distillery building of 'Gooderham and Worts Distillery' where was used distillery, it is also the biggest collection of industry architecture in Victorian Age inside the North-America. Beside it was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1988.
In this part, Gooderham and Worts Distillery was built in 1832 and famous for the biggest distillery in the world in the end of 1860s, was center of public transportation's transfer place as main national railroad of Canada, but operation of distillery slowly started to stop by manufactural decline near this area in 20th century and this zone by itself started to be abandoned. However closed distilleries started to be developed from 1990 and kept just the way it is, so it made opportunity of investment, atmosphere was selected by attractive place by itself as it was used set of many movies and dramas which broadcast on 800 theater and television.
Redevelopment was almost finished and reopened in 2003, new owner of this place didn't want to enter such as large retail shops and franchise restaurants, so art gallery or small shops like boutiques and art galleries and small restaurants and jewelry shops and cafes and a small distilleries 'Mill Street Brewery' could usually be entered. Artists rent the upper space as studio, there has also been entered sets of theater and drama.
This zone's traditional bricks street, there are limited road where only pedestrian and bicycle users can use, sculptures line up through the street where can feel lively view, distillery road was installed at the end of Trinity Street.
There's a chimney being the top of Boiler House Complex as the main landmark, there are comfortable space of a pedestrian street with tables and chairs for ordinary people, furthermore there are terraces of cafe and restaurant, Trinity Street is doing function of public square for events of market day as the largest one in this zone.)
[스포츠 박물관 (Sports Museum)]
이 곳에 스포츠 관련하여 일종의 박물관과 상점이 결합된 곳도 있었다. 매우 아담한 공간 안에 야구 뿐만이 아니라 풋볼, 아이스 하키 등 다른 스포츠에 관한 상품과 책, 이미지들이 전시되어 있었고, 특히 반가운 마음이 들어 야구 관련한 것들을 열심히 카메라에 담았으나, 사실 촬영은 금지되어 있다고 한다. 내 경우엔 어느 정도 찍고 나서야 제지를 받았기 때문에 이렇게 몇 장의 사진이 남아있게 된 것이지만 말이다.
입구의 아기자기한 조각들이 내 관심을 먼저 끌어서 셀카를 몇 장 담아보고 싶었으나, 이 날 따라 유독 비가 많이 와서(로저스 센터는 다행히 돔구장이라는!!!) 그냥 포기해야만 했다. 게다가 이 날도 여전히 천근만근 무거운 다리와 피곤한 몸을 이끌고 돌아다니고 있었으니 말이다.
{There was a place where combines a kind of museum and shop about sports here. The products and books and images about baseball and another sports of football and ice hockey with baseball and etc was exhibited within a cozy space, especially I took photography very hard about baseball so I was glad, but I heard taking photography is prohibited. In my case, some photos were remained like this cause I was under restraint after taking some photos.
Sweet sculptures of entrance attracts my attention before entering into this place, so I'd like to take some selfies, but I just had to give up due to raining a lot in this day(Rogers Centre is fortunately retractable roof ball park!!!). Besides I had been looking around that I still bring my legs feeling heavily and my tiredness, too.}
[디스틸러리 역사 지구내의 조각품들(Sculptures inside the Distillery Historic District)]
날씨만 좋았더라면 적극적으로 돌아다니며 이런저런 사진을 남겼을텐데 지금 생각하니 아쉬운 마음이 든다. 겨울 옷을 챙겨가지 않은 바람에 너무 추웠고, 바람까지 너무 많이 불어서 어쩔 수 없기는 했지만 말이다. 조금 더 날씨가 좋고 따뜻할 때 시간적인 여유를 가지고 간단히 브런치를 즐기며 쇼핑도 하고, 이 구역을 꼼꼼히 구경한다면 꽤 좋은 시간을 보낼 수 있을 것이라고 장담할 수 있다.
허름해 보이는 것이 바로 이 곳의 컨셉이라 더 매력적이기도 하고, 아마 꽤 많은 시간이 흐르면 이 빈티지함이 더더욱 큰 이목을 끌 것 같았다. 그 때는 날씨 때문에 미처 생각을 하지 못했었는데 이렇게 글을 쓰는 지금 정말 다시 한번 토론토에 가고 싶다는 생각이 든다. 못 가 본 곳이 더 많기도 하거니와 이미 갔었던 장소마저 더 꼼꼼히 돌아보며 다소 부족했던 부분을 더 메우고 싶어진다. 진짜 나중에 다시 한번 더 가리라는 굳은 결심을 해본다!
(If it was good weather, I would actively look around and take some pictures, to think right now, I come to mind lacking something. It was so chilly due to not bringing my winter clothes and was strong wind, so it couldn't do anything anymore. If it enjoys simple brunch and does shopping and looks around this zone in detail to have more time when it is good and warm, I'm sure it can spend pretty good time.
looking shabby is just concept of this place, it feels more attractive, maybe I thought this vintage will attract big attention more and more after it passes pretty much time. I had never no idea at all then due to weather, I think I want to go to Toronto once again right now to write like this. There are many places that I haven't gone and I want to look around more detailedly even the places that I have been and fill somehow lacking part more. I have a firm determination that will really visit to Toronto once again later!)
