항상 글을 쓸 때면 첫 단어를 어떻게 시작해야 할지 많은 고민을 하게 되고, 그렇게 첫 줄 그리고 첫 문단만 완성하는데도 꽤 오랜 시간이 걸리는데 이번에도 여지없이 그런 긴 시간을 보내고 나서야 이렇게 첫 마침표를 찍어본다. 2016년의 끝자락에 다다른 지금에서야 지난 9월 중순부터 10월 중순까지 다녀온 27일간의 미국 여행에 대한 소소한 글을 시작하는 것이 다소 게을러 보이기는 하지만 말이다. 객관적으로는 매우 소소한 글이 되겠지만 내 개인적으로는 아주 큰 과업일지도 모르겠고......
어쨌든 작년부터 시작한 나의 버킷리스트 중 가장 달성하기 힘든 이 꿈을 이루기 위해 올해도 빠른 시점부터 많은 준비를 했고, 예상보다 긴 시간동안 MLB 야구장을 비롯한 각 도시의 명소도 함께 둘러볼 수 있었다. 아마 최소 몇 년간 다시 올 수 없는 소중한 기간이었을지도 모르겠다. 이 나라에서 일을 하려면 주말을 낀 7일 여행가는 것도 버겁기 때문에 그 추억 하나하나를 기록으로 남겨보고 싶다.
(When I always write, I agonizes a lot about how does first word start, it takes so long time what it completes only first line and first paragraph, I put the first dot after long time like that. It seems to be lazy a little what I start trivial writing about journey for 27 days being from the middle of September to the middle of October in the present time to reach the end of 2016. Maybe this becomes trivial writings objectively, but is great task in personality......
Anyway I prepared a lot from the early time this year for achieving this most difficult dream in my bucket list starting from last year, I can look around famous places of each other cities with MLB ball parks for long period than I expect. Maybe that was valuable period which can't experience the several years at least. I'd like to remain the memories one by one because If I try to work, it's so difficult tour of 7 days including weekend.)

여행 기간에 비해 다녀온 곳이 많지는 않지만 빡빡하게 일정 소화하는 것 자체를 별로 좋아하지도 않고, 주된 목표는 MLB 야구장 투어이기 때문에 그 시간을 제외한 나머지 시간을 활용할 수 있는 장소 위주로 다녀왔다. 여기서 몇몇 곳은 재방문할지도 모르니 그 때 못 돌아본 곳을 가면 될 것 같다.
올해 야구장 6곳을 돌아보면서 작년부터 지금까지 총 10곳을 돌았는데 앞으로 20곳이 더 남았고 거기에 더해 최소 3곳의 신구장이 건설될 예정이라 언제 이 꿈을 모두 이룰지는 모르겠다. 진짜 죽기 전까지 다 갈 수 있을까......
(I couldn't go many tourist attractions to compare journey period, but cause I don't like to digest intensive schedule and main bucket list is MLB ball park tour, I went mainly places where can use extra time except that time. It doesn't know I revisit several places in that ones, so I think I go omission at that time.
I went 6 ball parks this year and total 10 ball parks from last year to now, it remains 20 ones in the future, besides it will be constructed 3 new ones at least, I have no idea when this dream all comes true. Can I really go every MLB ball parks until I pass away in my life......)
이번에도 각각의 도시마다 관광 명소, MLB 야구장, MLB 게임 이렇게 세 가지의 주제로 글을 쓸 것이지만 알링턴 정규시즌의 경우 특별히 돌아본 관광지가 없어서 관광 명소 글은 생략하고, PNC 파크는 작년에도 다녀온 곳이라 야구장 투어 글을 생략할 것이며, 뉴욕 양키 스타디움 경기는 내 응원팀의 경기가 아니었어서 관광 명소에 넣을 것이고, 포트워스와 댈러스의 경우는 순수하게 관광만 했기에 관광 명소 글만 쓰게 될 것 같다. 마지막 알링턴 포스트시즌도 경기 관람만 했기 때문에 정리 글까지 하면 총 22개의 글을 써야 할 듯 싶다. 아, 언제 다 쓰지......
(I'll write 3 subjects of tourist attraction and MLB ball park and game at each cities at this time, however there isn't specially tourist attraction in case of regular season in Arlington, so I omit about tourist attraction's writing, also I'll omit ball park tour's writing cause I went to PNC park last year, again, it'll insert a game about yanks' game in New York to tourist attraction writing due to not my supporting time's game, I think I will write only tourist attraction's writing so it purely looked around in Fort Worth and Dallas. 20) [2016 MLB TOUR] 카우보이의 본산이자 아기자기한 도시, 텍사스 주 포트워스 (The home of Cowboys and cute city, Fort Worth of Texas)
[포트워스 스톡야드(Fort Worth Stockyards)]
포트워스는 미국에서 16번째로 큰 도시이자 텍사스에서 5번째로 큰 도시이며 인구수가 약 83만명이라고 한다. 댈러스와 포트워스 그리고 알링턴과 묶여있는 광역 생활권으로 볼 수 있으며 매우 큰 규모의 댈러스-포트워스 공항도 이와 무관하지 않다.
1849년 트리니티 강이 내려다보이는 절벽 위의 군 전초 기지로서 설립되었고, 여전히 서부문화의 유산 그리고 전통적 건축양식, 설계가 남아있으며 소몰이의 중심지가 되면서 후에 목장 산업이 발전하는 등 일명 cowtown이라고 불린다.
포트워스 도시 자체는 아기자기하고 조용한 느낌이기는 하나, 미국의 유명 피아니스트의 이름을 딴 세계적인 피아노 대회가 있고, 몇몇 세계 최고 수준의 미술관들은 세계적으로 알려진 현대 건축가에 의해 설계되었다. 킴벨 미술관은 많은 수집품들, 순회한 전시품들, 교육적인 프로그램들 등 확장된 연구 도서관이라고 볼 수 있으며 루이스 칸에 의해 설계된 곳이다. 또한 타다오 안도에 의해 설계된 현대 미술관, 필립 존슨이 설계한 아몬 카터 미술관이 있고, 벨 헬리콥터, 록히드 마틴, 아메리칸 항공, BNSF 레일웨이, 피어 원 수입, 라디오 쉐이크 등 많은 다국적 기업들이 위치해있다.
(Fort Worth is the 16th largest city in the US and the 5th largest city in the state of Texas, the population is 830,000. It sees a metropolitan city including Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington and a huge of Dallas-Fort Worth Natl' Airport is related with this.
Fort Worth was established in 1849 as an Army Outpost on a bluff overlooking the Trinity River, still remained Western Heritage and traditional architecture and design, was the center of cattle drive and developed cattle industry after, called cowtown by nickname.
Fort Worth feels bijou and quiet by itself, but there's international piano competition of Van Cliburn and several world-class museums were designed by internationally known contemporary architects. [댈러스와 포트워스를 잇는 고속열차 TRE(Trinity Railway Express to connect Dallas and Fort Worth)]
댈러스는 대도시답게 DART라 불리는 경전철이 있고, 이렇게 어빙-포트워스를 잇는 고속열차 TRE가 있어서 댈러스에 숙소를 두었는데 숙소가 너무 모텔급이라 당황했었다. 그 모텔급이 2.5성급 가격이었다는 게 더 문제였으나, 역이 도보 거리에 있었던 건 장점이었다. 그래서 이렇게 경전철을 타고 댈러스 유니온 역으로 갔고, 여기서 다시 TRE로 갈아탔다.
거리 자체는 알링턴에서 포트워스로 가는 것이 더 가까운데 대중교통 시스템과 비용적인 측면을 봤을 때 시간이 조금 더 걸리더라도 댈러스에서 이동하는 것이 여러모로 편하다. 게다가 댈러스 대중교통 시스템의 장점이 적은 가격으로 모든 교통수단을 이용할 수 있는 정기권이 있다. 어플과 각 역 자동판매기에서 구입할 수 있는데 $1.75짜리 로컬 단일권, $5의 댈러스 모든 대중교통을 이용할 수 있는 로컬 1일권, $10의 광역권의 모든 대중교통을 이용할 수 있는 1일권, $5의 TRE 단일권이 있고, 버스도 $6의 댈러스 로컬 정기권, $3의 2시간권 등 다양한 티켓이 있다. 당연히 난 이 날은 포트워스로 넘어가야 했고, 버스도 타야했기 때문에 $10의 정기권을 구입했다.
(There're subway called DART as big city and TRE which is express train connect with Irving and Fort Worth, so I stayed one hotel in Dallas, I was embarrassed due to motel-class. It was a problem the hotel was 2.5 star's expenses, but it was strength station was walking distance. So I got on subway to Union Station and I transferred TRE, again.
It's closer to go from Arlington to Fort Worth, even though it's time more going from Dallas more comfortable in terms of public transportation system and expense. Besides strength of public transportation in Dallas has some commutation ticket which can use every transportation by low price. It can purchase in App and vending machine of each station, there're various pass of local single pass $1.75 and local 1 day pass which can use every transportation in Dallas of $5 and 1 day pass which can use every transportation in regional zones of $10 and TRE single pass of $5, local day pass in Dallas of $6 and 2 hours pass of $3 for bus and etc. I purchased 1 day pass of $10, because I surely had to go to Fort Worth this day and had to get on bus.)

포트워스 ITC역에서 1번 버스나 트롤리(주말)를 타고 약 10분정도 가면 포트워스 스톡야드 입구 1블럭 뒤의 사거리에서 내릴 수 있다. 사거리에서 입구까지 1분 이내의 도보 거리라 대중 교통을 이용해도 충분하다.
입구 근처에 호텔과 레스토랑, 바 등 여러 상점들이 있는데 건물이나 거리 면면이 마치 옛날 서부 마을에 온 듯한 느낌이 들었다. 음, 우리나라로 치면 민속촌 느낌이라고 할까...
(It gets on no. 1 bus or Trolley for about 10 minutes from Fort Worth ITC Station, it can get off intersection behind 1 block from Stockyards' entrance. It's enough only public transportation due to walking distance within 1 minutes.
There're some storefronts of a hotel and restaurant and bar and etc near the entrance, structures or street at each one felt such coming western town of the old time. Um, thinking here, looks like Folk Village...)

스톡야드 입구에만 있어도 친근한 시골 냄새(소똥?ㅋ)가 나는데 이 안으로 들어서니 그 냄새의 강도가 더 세졌다. 금요일과 토요일에 이 곳에서 로데오 경기가 열린다고 하는데 난 화요일에 와서 아쉽게 경기는 못 보고, 명예의 전당만 한 바퀴 둘러보았다. 이것도 스포츠니만큼 과거부터 지금까지의 로데오 경기에 참여했던 유명한 카우보이들의 사진과 업적들이 전시되어 있었으나, 사실 내가 관심있는 분야는 아니었기에 대충 둘러보고 나왔다.
(It reaches only Stockyards entrance, can smell familiar country scent, the scent grew strong more after coming into this place. I heard Rodeo game opens here every Friday and Saturday, but I couldn't unfortunately watch a game due to coming on Tuesday, I looked around in Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame. It was exhibiting photos and achievements of the famous Cowboys who attended Rodeo games since the past as it is sports, but I briefly looked around and went out so honestly my favorite subject.)

스톡야드는 국립 사적지로 지정되어있는 역사적인 장소이며 포트워스 다운타운과도 매우 가깝다. 앞에 언급했듯이 건물 전체와 내부 인테리어, 목장, 여러 이벤트 등 서부 개척시대의 모습을 최대한 보존하였으나, 규모 자체는 그닥 크지 않다.
익스체인지 거리를 따라 쭉 올라가면 스톡야드 역이 나오는데 지금은 기차가 운행되지 않는 것 같고, 예전에는 가축들을 다른 지역으로 이동시킬 때 이 역을 이용했던 듯 하다. 그래서 그런지 예전 모습과 통일하기 위해 여러 레스토랑과 바 등을 이 곳 근처에 조성해두지 않았을까 싶다.
1달러인가, 2달러인가 이 금액을 내고 안전 관련한 사항에 사인만 하면 저 긴 뿔을 가진 롱혼에 탈 수 있다. 나도 한번 타보려고 했는데 저 소의 감긴 눈을 보노라니 너무 피곤해 보이기도 했고, 뭔가 불쌍한 생각이 들어서(동물원에 갇힌 동물들을 보는 느낌?) 실제로 타지는 않았다.
{Stockyards is a historical tourist attraction where is designated National Register of Historic Place and so close downtown. Figure of the wild, wild West of structure on the whole and interior and ranch and some events preserved to the maximum, the scale isn't big.
It goes up along Exchange Avenue, there's stockyards station, it doesn't seem to run train now, it seemed to use this station when livestocks moved to another area in the old times. I thought some restaurants and bars and etc constructed near this Stockyard Station for homogenizing with the past figure.
It pays this price of 1 dollar or 2 dollars and signs about safety, it can ride Longhorn to have that long horn. I tried to ride once, but I didn't actually ride because closing eyes of that cattle looked like so tired and I felt pitiful something(alike animals captive in zoo?).}
[소몰이(Forth Worth Herd Cattle Drive)]
매일 오전 11시 30분과 오후 4시 30분에 익스체인지 거리-스톡야드 스테이션-가축 거래소(?)의 코스로 캐틀 드라이브(소몰이)라는 특별한 이벤트가 진행된다.
옛날의 서부 개척시대때는 수백만마리의 소몰이를 했다고 하는데 이 주위가 모두 도시화된 탓에 수많은 가축들을 수용할 공간이 없어서 지금은 소규모의 소몰이를 하고 있다고 보면 된다. 규모가 아쉽기는 해도 긴 뿔을 가진 롱혼 무리들의 모습을 가까이에서 볼 수 있다는 것이 꽤 신선하게 다가왔다. 우리나라에서 롱혼은 본 적이 없으니까......
(A special event called Cattle Drive runs course of Exchange Avenue-Stockyards Station-Livestock Exchange Building on 11:30am and 4:30pm every day. I heard it ran millions of cattle drive in the Wild, Wild West, it can see cattle drive of small scale now cause there aren't some place where can accommodate huge many livestocks due to becoming urbanization all near this place. Even though the scale feels lacking, I felt pretty fresh that I can see figure of Longhorn group to have long horn nearby. I haven't never seen Longhorn in here......)

캐틀 드라이브가 끝난 후 비지터 센터에 잠시 들어가봤다. 입구에서 좌우 양쪽 구석에 직원들이 있어 이 스톡야드에 대한 여러가지 정보를 얻을 수 있고, 여러 브로셔도 있었던 것 같다. 그래서 이것저것 보다가 동화책에 나오는 그림처럼 귀여운 지도만 하나 가지고 온 걸로 기억이 난다.
그렇게 나와 되돌아가는 길에 입구 근처의 로데오 플라자에서 여러가지 기념품들 구경했다. 괜찮은 장식품들이 많았는데 역시 예산상의 이유로 작은 스노우볼 2개만 사가지고 왔다.
(I came into Visitor Center for a minute after Cattle Drive. There're some staffs in the left and right side of entrance, so it can get some information about Stockyards, looked like it had some brochures. So I saw them and remember to get a cute map such a painting of fairy tale.
After going out from that, I looked some souvenirs in Rodeo Plaza of the near Stockyards entrance on returning way. There were many good ornaments, but I bought only two small snowballs due to also my budget.)
[점심식사로 먹은 스시 롤(Sushi Roll eating lunch)]
스톡야드 정류장에서 다시 버스를 타고 다운타운으로 갔고, 선댄스 스퀘어를 가기 전에 점심을 해결하기로 했다. 밥 종류가 좀 그리워서 yelp 어플을 찾아보다보니 괜찮은 스시 레스토랑이 있어 이 곳에서 점심을 먹었다. 메뉴에 보면 각 요리마다 들어가는 재료들이 써 있어서 내가 좋아하는 연어 위주로 주문했고, 양이 얼마나 될지 잘 몰라서 2가지 메뉴를 시키게 되었는데 그래서 그런지 양이 많았던 것 같다.
더욱이 맛도 꽤 좋았다. 스시 롤보다는 스시를 한국이든 여행지든 여러 곳에서 많이 먹었었는데 모든 곳을 통틀어 이 곳이 나에겐 역대 최고의 맛집이었다. 큰 기대를 하지 않아서 그런 것일 수도 있지만 기본은 보장되는 집인 것 같다!!!
(I got on bus at Stockyards stop, again, went to downtown, I decided to solve lunch before going Sundance Square. I missed a sort of rice, so I found out good Sushi restaurant on Yelp application, I ate lunch this restaurant. It sees a menu and writes ingredients at each cooking, so I ordered my favorite mainly salmon and had 2 menus cause I didn't know how much was food's volume, so the volume is full.
Besides taste was pretty good. I ate sushi than sushi roll much more in various city whether Korea or another country, this place was the best restaurant to me in history and throughout everywhere. It could be so I didn't expect, I think this restaurant is basically delicious.!!!)
[선댄스 스퀘어(Sundance Square)]
선댄스 스퀘어는 35블럭을 아우르는 상업, 주택, 문화, 상점지구로 다운타운 안에 있는 포트워스의 최대 번화가로 보면 된다.
선댄스는 해리 알론조 롱바우 ('내일을 향해 쏴라' 라는 영화의 모티브가 된 사람), 일명 선댄스 키즈라고 더 잘 알려진 강도의 이름에서 따왔는데 실제로 강도짓을 벌이면서 여성의 물건은 훔치지 않고, 살인을 하지 않았던 로빈훗의 이미지가 있었던 실존 인물이라고 한다. 나중에 쫓길 때는 그렇지 못했던 듯 하지만...
어쨌든 왜 이 사람의 이름을 따왔는지는 잘 모르겠지만 이 곳 출신이며 범죄로 혼란스러웠던 서부 시대의 상징같은 인물이라서 그런 것 같다.
낮에는 직장인들이 많아 다소 조용하지만 밤에는 여느 번화가처럼 시끌벅적하다고 한다. 21곳의 상점, 34곳의 레스토랑, 17곳의 엔터테인먼트 시설, 24곳의 기타 서비스 시설 등이 위치해있으며 이 사진에서 보듯이 넓은 광장과 쉼터, 분수 그리고 서부 개척시대의 역사를 가진 도시답게 치스홀름 소몰이 벽화도 있어 볼거리 또한 많다. 밤에 왔으면 더 이뻤을텐데 그 점은 좀 아쉬웠다.

Sundance was named mugger Harry Alonzo Longabaugh(person motive of movie 'Butch Cassidy And Sundance Kid') who known better nickname Sundance Kid, I heard he is a real person who had an image of Robin Hood who didn't steal woman's stuff and didn't kill. But it wasn't so when he was pursued after...
Anyway I don't know well why quote the man's name, but I thought he was born and was person alike symbol of the Western era that was confused by crime.
I heard Sundance Square is quiet due to many office workers in daytime, boisterous such usual main street. 21 Retail stores and 34 restaurants and 17 entertainments and 24 the other service places located and there are many spectacles of large square and rest area and fountain like that pictures and Chisholm Trail Mural as city to have history of the Wild, Wild West. If I come here at night, it would be greater, I felt lacing a little.)
[포트워스 다운타운(Fort Worth Downtown)]
현대식의 건물이 즐비하지만 뭔가 전형적인 미국의 분위기가 엿보이는 것 같긴 하다. 다른 도시는 유럽의 분위기가 좀 많이 느껴졌는데 여긴 그냥 미국 그 자체인 것 같다. 조용하기도 했지만 과거와 현재의 모습이 너무나도 조화가 잘 되어있는 도시라 너무 마음에 들었던 것 같다.
(There're many modern buildings, but it shows atmosphere of classical United States. The other cities showed feeling of Europe a lot, however I think this city is just United States in itself. It was quiet, anyway I like very much so this city is very harmonious form of the past and present.)
[포트워스 워터가든(Fort Worth Water Gardens)]
선댄스 스퀘어에서 도보로 약 10분 정도 가면 이 포트워스 워터가든에 도착한다. 포트워스 워터가든은 1974년 20세기를 대표하는 건축가 필립 존슨과 존 버기가 설계하였으며 독특한 분수들이 곳곳에 포진되어 있다. 매 분마다 7만 리터의 물이 움직이는 탓에 마음이 안정되는 효과가 있는 것 같고, 여러 곳에 쉴 곳이 마련되어 있는 도심 속의 작은 공원이라고 여기면 될 것 같다.

Fort Worth Water Gardens designed architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee who represents 20th century in 1974, distinctive fountains are placing here and there. I thought my mind stabilized due to moving water of 70,000 liter each minute, it supposes a small park in the urban city where is some rest spaces.)
[포트워스 ITC역(Fort Worth ITC Station)]
다시 댈러스로 돌아가야 할 시간, 아쉬움을 곱씹으며 마지막 장소인 포트워스 ITC역을 찍어봤다. 고속 전철도 이 곳에 서지만 암트랙도 있어서 퇴근 시간에 맞춰 많은 사람들이 플랫폼에 있었다. 하마터면 잘못된 방향을 탈 뻔했는데 뭐 그렇다고 해도 1일권이라 크게 부담은 없었을 것 같다.
크게 기대하지 않았지만 색다른 매력을 느낀 곳이었고, 이 곳에서도 한번 살아보고 싶다는 생각을 했다. 더운 날씨가 흠이긴 하지만 다운타운에 있을 것도 다 있는 반면 조용하면서도 아기자기하고 역사가 있는 그런 분위기가 너무 좋았고, 알링턴과 댈러스 모두 가까워서 다른 곳으로 여행을 가거나 야구를 보러 가기에도 참 괜찮아보였다. 게다가 텍사스 주가 원래 기업들이 많으니.....
시간상 겉만 훑고 왔단 생각이 드는데 다음에는 조금 더 세세하게 둘러보며 미처 깨닫지 못한 포트워스의 나머지 매력을 느껴보고 싶다!!!
(The time to return to Dallas, again, I felt something wanting and took some pictures Fort Worth ITC Station where was the final place. It stops TRE and Amtrak, so there were many people at platform in the closing hour. I almost got on to wrong way, even if I was go, I don't bigly think burdensome cause I got 1 day pass.
I didn't bigly expect, but I felt unusual charm and I thought I want to live once here. Hot weather's the problem, however everything having to be all had, I liked very much about quiet and cute and historic feeling on the other hand, it seemed to be pretty good it goes travel to another place or goes to watch baseball cause of Arlington and Dallas nearby. Besides there're naturally many companies in Texas...
I think I watch only the outside of this city in time, I wish I look a little more in detail and feel extra charm of Fort Worth where couldn't quite realize next time!!!)
