항상 글을 쓸 때면 첫 단어를 어떻게 시작해야 할지 많은 고민을 하게 되고, 그렇게 첫 줄 그리고 첫 문단만 완성하는데도 꽤 오랜 시간이 걸리는데 이번에도 여지없이 그런 긴 시간을 보내고 나서야 이렇게 첫 마침표를 찍어본다. 2016년의 끝자락에 다다른 지금에서야 지난 9월 중순부터 10월 중순까지 다녀온 27일간의 미국 여행에 대한 소소한 글을 시작하는 것이 다소 게을러 보이기는 하지만 말이다. 객관적으로는 매우 소소한 글이 되겠지만 내 개인적으로는 아주 큰 과업일지도 모르겠고......
어쨌든 작년부터 시작한 나의 버킷리스트 중 가장 달성하기 힘든 이 꿈을 이루기 위해 올해도 빠른 시점부터 많은 준비를 했고, 예상보다 긴 시간동안 MLB 야구장을 비롯한 각 도시의 명소도 함께 둘러볼 수 있었다. 아마 최소 몇 년간 다시 올 수 없는 소중한 기간이었을지도 모르겠다. 이 나라에서 일을 하려면 주말을 낀 7일 여행가는 것도 버겁기 때문에 그 추억 하나하나를 기록으로 남겨보고 싶다.
(When I always write, I agonizes a lot about how does first word start, it takes so long time what it completes only first line and first paragraph, I put the first dot after long time like that. It seems to be lazy a little what I start trivial writing about journey for 27 days being from the middle of September to the middle of October in the present time to reach the end of 2016. Maybe this becomes trivial writings objectively, but is great task in personality......
Anyway I prepared a lot from the early time this year for achieving this most difficult dream in my bucket list starting from last year, I can look around famous places of each other cities with MLB ball parks for long period than I expect. Maybe that was valuable period which can't experience the several years at least. I'd like to remain the memories one by one because If I try to work, it's so difficult tour of 7 days including weekend.)

여행 기간에 비해 다녀온 곳이 많지는 않지만 빡빡하게 일정 소화하는 것 자체를 별로 좋아하지도 않고, 주된 목표는 MLB 야구장 투어이기 때문에 그 시간을 제외한 나머지 시간을 활용할 수 있는 장소 위주로 다녀왔다. 여기서 몇몇 곳은 재방문할지도 모르니 그 때 못 돌아본 곳을 가면 될 것 같다.
올해 야구장 6곳을 돌아보면서 작년부터 지금까지 총 10곳을 돌았는데 앞으로 20곳이 더 남았고 거기에 더해 최소 3곳의 신구장이 건설될 예정이라 언제 이 꿈을 모두 이룰지는 모르겠다. 진짜 죽기 전까지 다 갈 수 있을까......
(I couldn't go many tourist attractions to compare journey period, but cause I don't like to digest intensive schedule and main bucket list is MLB ball park tour, I went mainly places where can use extra time except that time. It doesn't know I revisit several places in that ones, so I think I go omission at that time.
I went 6 ball parks this year and total 10 ball parks from last year to now, it remains 20 ones in the future, besides it will be constructed 3 new ones at least, I have no idea when this dream all comes true. Can I really go every MLB ball parks until I pass away in my life......)
이번에도 각각의 도시마다 관광 명소, MLB 야구장, MLB 게임 이렇게 세 가지의 주제로 글을 쓸 것이지만 알링턴 정규시즌의 경우 특별히 돌아본 관광지가 없어서 관광 명소 글은 생략하고, PNC 파크는 작년에도 다녀온 곳이라 야구장 투어 글을 생략할 것이며, 뉴욕 양키 스타디움 경기는 내 응원팀의 경기가 아니었어서 관광 명소에 넣을 것이고, 포트워스와 댈러스의 경우는 순수하게 관광만 했기에 관광 명소 글만 쓰게 될 것 같다. 마지막 알링턴 포스트시즌도 경기 관람만 했기 때문에 정리 글까지 하면 총 22개의 글을 써야 할 듯 싶다. 아, 언제 다 쓰지......
(I'll write 3 subjects of tourist attraction and MLB ball park and game at each cities at this time, however there isn't specially tourist attraction in case of regular season in Arlington, so I omit about tourist attraction's writing, also I'll omit ball park tour's writing cause I went to PNC park last year, again, it'll insert a game about yanks' game in New York to tourist attraction writing due to not my supporting time's game, I think I will write only tourist attraction's writing so it purely looked around in Fort Worth and Dallas. I think I will write total 22 writing to include complete post cause I watched only games about the final ALDS in Arlington. Um, when can I write all......)
17) [2016 MLB TOUR] 블루스와 야구의 도시, 세인트루이스 (The city of Blues and Baseball, St. Louis)
[게이트웨이 아치(Gateway Arch)]
세인트 루이스는 미시시피 강과 미주리주 강의 합류점에 위치하는 도시로 인구 약 32만명의 소도시이지만 광역권 인구는 290만명이다. 미시시피 강 건너편은 일리노이 주인데 세인트루이스가 일리노이 주와 가깝다는 생각을 전혀 하지 않고 있다가 메트로 링크의 노선도를 보고 나서 그것을 깨달았다. 일리노이 주에 있는 가장 큰 도시가 시카고라 더 그랬던 것 같다.
내가 직접 가 본 곳은 아니지만 세인트 루이스에는 국립 블루스 박물관이 있다. 블루스 음악과 이것이 세상에 끼친 영향 그리고 그 역사와 유산을 보존하기 위해 탄생한 유일한 박물관이라고 한다. 유물은 물론 라이브 공연과 체험형 갤러리가 마련되어 있는 곳으로 블루스 음악에 관심이 많은 사람들에게 더 할 나위없이 좋을 것 같다.
(St. Louis is city where locates the confluence Mississippi and Missouri river, a small city of 320,000 people, but regional zones' population is 2,900,000 people. The opposite from Mississippi river is Illinois, I didn't think it was close St. Louis and Illinois at all, I realized this after seeing MetroLink' map. It was so more cause the biggest city in Illinois is Chicago.
I haven't never been directly, but there's National Blues Museum in St. Louis. This one is the only museum for Blues music and influence about Blues and preserving the history and inheritance. This one has relics and live entertainment and experiential gallery, so I think it is ideal place to people who are interested in Blues a lot.)

[크라운 플라자 호텔(Clowne Plaza Hotel)]
내 예산상 숙박비가 조금 부담스러운 호텔이긴 했지만 2박 3일만 묵었고, 워싱턴-뉴욕의 호스텔 생활이 지친 것도 있어서 조금 편하게 씻고 쉴 겸 해서 묵었던 곳이다. 다운타운이나 여러 중요 시설과 가깝고, 게이트웨이 아치도 바로 앞에 있었으며 주위에 좋은 호텔들도 많아서 치안도 별 걱정이 없었고, 야구장에서 도보 5분 거리라 더 편했다.
(Room charge was a little expensive in my budget, but I stayed 2 nights 3 days and it was tired hostel life of Washington DC-New York, so I stayed with I wanted comfortably to clean and to rest. This one's close downtown or some facilities and was Gateway Arch forward, I didn't worry about public security so there were many good hotels near this one, it was more comfortable cause of 5 minutes' distance from ball park by walk.)
[세인트루이스 프랑스 구 성당(Basilica of St. Louis, King of France)]
게이트웨이 아치 바로 앞에 이 프랑스 구 성당이 있다. 미시시피 강의 서쪽 최초의 가톨릭 성당이며 게이트웨이 아치로 가는 길을 건설하기 위해 그 주위의 건물을 모두 철거했을 때도 남길만큼 역사적인 의의가 있는 가톨릭 교회이다.
초대 교회는 1770년 선교 사제들이 묵을 수 있을만한 작은 통나무집 형태로 만들어졌으나, 현재의 모습은 1831년에 조셉 라베일르와 조지 모튼의 설계에 의해 건축되어 1834년에 완성되었다.
야구장 투어가 끝나면 가톨릭 신자로서 세계 각 국의 성당 및 주요 성지 순례도 해보고 싶은데 과연 그럴만한 시간이 될지 모르겠다. 다음날이 일요일이었어서 미사에 한번 참여해봐야겠다 생각했었으나, 역시 너무 피곤해서 가지 못했다. 이렇게 또 죄를 짓고...... ㅜㅜ
(Basilica old France Cathedral is just in front for Gateway Arch. formal title is Basilica of St. Louis, King of France. It's the first Catholic church west of Mississippi river and historical significance of the church as it was left when all neighboring buildings were demolished to make way for the Gateway Arch. The first church was made a small log house where can stay itinerant priests in 1770, but the form of the present was built by design of Joseph Laveille and George Morton and completed in 1834.
If my ball park tour is finish, I wish tour of Catholic church and main shrine of the world as I'm a Catholic, indeed I have no idea it has that time. I thought I should attend the Mass once, but I didn't go due to so tired. It committed sin like that, again....... -_-/)

게이트웨이 아치는 세인트루이스의 가장 대표적인 건축물로 높이가 192m인만큼 세계에서 가장 높은 아치이다. 제퍼슨 국립 익스팬션 기념 공원에서도 가장 중요한 건축물이고, 1947년 에로 사리넨에 의해 설계되어 1965년에 완성되었으며 이 아치의 기하학적인 형태는 건축가 한스칼 벤델의 수학 방정식에 의해 정해졌다고 한다.
게이트웨이 아치도 정상에 전망대가 있어 들어가려고 했는데 일단 가장 마지막 시간대가 오후 4시대였고, 이 날의 티켓은 모두 매진이었다. 어차피 숙소가 바로 뒤에 있었으니 다음날이라도 전망대에 올라가보려고 했는데 또 경기 시간이 오후 2시였던 것이다. 어쩜 이렇게 안 맞을 수 있는지... 솔직히 전망대는 야간에 가는 게 맛이라 야간 시간대가 있었으면 했었는데 여러가지로 아쉬웠다.
(Gateway Arch is a the most representative structure of St. Louis and the the highest arch in the world. It's the most important structure in Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, was designed by Eero Saarinen in 1957, completed in 1965, geometric form of this arch was set mathematical equation of Hannskarl Bandel.
There's a observatory in the top of the Gateway Arch, so I tried to come, once the last time was 4pm, this day's ticket all sold out. I tried to go up to observatory next day so it was near at my hotel, baseball game was 2pm, too. It can't match like this... Honestly observatory of night is good, so it would be night time, I felt someway lacking.)
[시티가든(City Garden)]
세인트 루이스에 아주 유명한 식물원이 있는데 거기도 입장시간이 맞지 않아서 가지 못하고, 경기 후에 가볍게 산책 코스로 돌아볼 수 있는 곳을 알아보다가 부시 스타디움으로부터 도보 5분 거리의 시티 가든을 가기로 했다.
시티 가든은 세인트루이스 다운타운에 위치한 작은 공원으로 여러 식물들과 조각상들을 구경하는 재미도 쏠쏠하다. 2009년 개장된만큼 만들어진지 얼마 안된 곳이라서 그런지 현대적이면서도 아기자기한 느낌의 조각상들이 많고, 식물에 대해 친절하게 이름표를 달아두긴 했지만 이름모를 식물들도 생각보다 많았다. 공간이 작아서 느긋하게 하나하나씩 보며 감상하는 것도 1시간이면 다 될 것 같고, 바로 위쪽에 카페도 있다.
(There's the most famous botanical garden in St. Louis, I couldn't go there cause of entrance time didn't match with my schedule, I was looking for the place where looks around lightly by walk course after game, I decided to go to City Garden of 5 minutes by walk from Busch Stadium.
City Garden is a small park where locates downtown St. Louis, some plants and sculptures can interestingly look. whether It's a new park as opened in 2009, There were many sculptures of modern and cute feeling and many plants which can't know name than I thought, even though it's name of plants kindly. I think Watching slowly one by one takes 1 hour so it's a small, it has a cafe just on the top.)

제대로 관광할 수 있는 시간이 경기 관람을 포함해서 딱 하루밖에 없었기 때문에 정말 한정된 곳만 돌아볼 수 밖에 없었지만 그래도 여러가지로 인상이 좋았던 도시였다. 메트로링크도 생각보다 괜찮았던 것이 각 역이 중요한 곳마다 있어서 외진 곳을 가지 않는 이상은 차가 필요 없었고, 미시시피 강 너머의 일리노이 주까지 연결이 되어 있으며 운임비용도 이용 시간에 비례하면 저렴한 편이었다.
물론 역 근처에는 노숙인들이 좀 있어 좀 위험한 느낌도 들었으나, 다운타운 중심부로 오면 부시 스타디움을 비롯하여 여러 관광지와 쇼핑 거리, 고층 건물들이 있는 만큼 전혀 위험한 건 없다. 그럼에도 불구하고 세인트루이스 다운타운 자체가 경기가 있는 날을 제외하면 매우 조용하고 인적이 드문 편이었다.
(The time that can properly tour was just only a day including watching game, so I should really look limited place, but I felt good about this atmosphere in someway. MetroLink was good than I thought, it didn't need a car except going outskirts so each station was important place, connects to Illinois of across from Mississippi river, fare charge was cheap comparing with time available.
Of course, there were some homeless people near station, I felt a little dangerous, but the downtown's center isn't dangerous at all as there are some tourist attractions and shopping street and high-rise buildings. Even though, downtown was very quiet and lonesome except game days by itself.
또한 정말 세인트루이스가 야구의 도시라는 게 실감이 났다. 경기가 있는 날 여기저기를 돌아봐도 카디널스 저지나 티셔츠를 입고 다니는 사람이 거의 대부분이었고, 내가 묵었던 호텔 뿐만 아니라 그 주위 호텔의 숙박객 대부분이 카디널스 팬이었으며 야구장 바로 옆에 볼파크 빌리지라는 쇼핑몰이 하나 있는데 정말 많은 사람들이 이 곳에서 즐거운 시간을 보내고 있었다.
게다가 세인트루이스에 참 멋진 남자들이 많은 것 같다. 원래 남자들의 허세를 정말 싫어하는데 이 곳에 있는 분들은 허세가 아닌 배려가 몸에 배여 있는 남성스러운 느낌이 들었다. 물론 미국 남자들을 비롯하여 서양권 남자들이 전반적으로 어린이, 노인, 장애인, 여성 등의 사회적 약자에 대한 배려가 몸에 배여있기는 하나, 이 곳에 있는 분들은 그런 경향이 조금 더 강해보였다.
(Also it was realistic St. Louis is a baseball city. I look around everywhere in game days, it was almost people who were wearing Cardinals' jersey or tee-shirt, even though my hotel, almost guests near the hotel was Cards fans, there's a shopping mall called Ball park village next to Busch Stadium, a lot of people were enjoying here.
Besides I think there are many wonderful guys in St. Louis. Naturally I really hate man's bravado, I felt masculine accustomed solicitude not bravado about guys who are in here. Of course, guys of the western world including America guys is generally accustomed solicitude about second-class citizen of children and senior citizen and disabled people and women and etc, but it seemed guys in here was stronger that tendency.)
다시 이 곳을 갈 수 있을지는 알 수 없지만 생각보다 많은 추억들을 쌓았고, 그런 추억들은 잊혀지지 않을 것 같다.
(I've no idea I can go here, again, however I had many memories that I thought, I don't think it is forgotten the memories.)
